Grocery Prices in Wisconsin below national average

WAUSAU (WAOW)--Grocery prices have gone up 6% over the past year.

But  a new study by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau shows those prices dropped a bit in the last quarter of 2011.  The bureau looked at 16 items and found the average Wisconsinite's bill was $48.35. Nationally the bill rang up at $49.23.

Wausau area shoppers and grocery store managers say more customers are using coupons and cost-savers like gas perks. Buying store or generic brands are also favorites mentioned for saving money.
