Dorothy M. (Wimmer) Nowitzke

Dorothy M. (Wimmer) Nowitzke, age 87, of Wausau died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Wausau with her children by her side. 

Dorothy was born on September 21, 1924 to the late Carl and Leona (Shipway) Wimmer.  She attended St Mary's grade school and graduated from the former Wausau High School.  On December 1, 1945 she married Morris Nowitzke.  They enjoyed traveling together, having traveled to Las Vegas, family reunions, Tunica Mississippi, and all over the country to Coast Guard Reunions.  Dorothy was noted for her great sense of humor and also loved to help with Bingo at the former St. James Catholic Church.

Dorothy was everyone's favorite babysitter, from nieces and nephews to grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters Carol (Duane) Tiedke of Oconomowoc and Ruth (Stan Ambroziak) Feck of Hatley; son, Roger (Nancy Stefanski) Nowitzke of Mosinee; grandchildren Jeff and Carrie Tiedke, Greg and Kevin Feck, and David, Kyle, and Kristi Nowitzke; and nine great grandchildren; sister Leona Burk; sisters in law LouAnn Wood and Eleanor (David) Porosky; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Morris Nowitzke, sister MaryAnn Steckling, and brother Carl Wimmer.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Church of the Resurrection, 621 Second St, Wausau.  The Rev. William Grevatch will officiate.  Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St and again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church on Monday.
