Mary Ann (Gorski) Brill, 98, Wausau, peacefully left her earthly life on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center.
Mary was born July 11, 1913 in the Town of Corning, Lincoln County, to Bolish and Victoria (Wiesneski) Gorski. She married Alex W. Brill at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Merrill on November 30, 1939. Alex preceded her in death in 1998.
Mary was a charter member of Saint Anne's Catholic Church since 1949 and also served as a member of Our Lady of Fatima Council. She taught adult students for the Association for the Religious Education for the Handicapped program for many years. Mary was a member of the Saint Cecelia Court National Catholic Society of Foresters for over 70 years and was named Fraternalist of the Year in 1997.
Mary was a caring, prayerful, loving and nonjudgmental woman who put the needs of her husband and children before her own. She was a great old-fashioned cook who could always make room at her table for one more relative or friend. Mary loved to dance, play cards, sew quilts, make braided rugs and can fruits and vegetables. There was always a fresh bouquet of flowers, often from the backyard garden, on the kitchen table. Her family was most grateful to be in her all-accepting presence – filled with prayerful teaching, much listening, compassionate understanding, patience and unconditional love.
Mary's family wishes to thank her loving caretakers at the Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Home in Schofield, where she lived since 2001; the caring Aspirus Hospice staff and Father Steven Brice and the Circle of Joy at The Church of Saint Anne. We are so grateful to those of you who gave Mary special loving care. You are an extension of Mary's family and we appreciate you all very much.
Surviving are three daughters: Kathleen (Kenny) Yoo of Kenosha and their children Roland (Linda) Iwen, Ron (Julie) Iwen, Reese Iwen, Jeannie (Jessie) Kiemele and Budd (Deanna) Yoo; Diane (Jim) VanEyck of Wausau and their children Victoria (Clay) Tylinski, Jamie VanEyck and Mary (Steve) Telisak; Bea Griff of Schofield and her children Becky (Chris) Reis, Amy Griff and Antonio and Michael Thompson; two sons: Jim (Dee) Brill of Florida and their children Matthew (Colette) Brill and Jeffrey (Aubrey) Brill; and Gregory (Sheila Fenn) Brill of Kenosha. Also surviving: fourteen great grandchildren: Michelle, Anthony, David, James, Adam and Emma Iwen; Allison, Nathan and Abigail Brill; Alexandra and Carson Tylinski; Stella and Dylan Kiemele and Cai Yoo; and one sister-in-law Mildred Brill of Marathon.
In addition to her husband, Alex, Mary was preceded in death by one son William "Billy" Brill; three brothers Felix, Joseph (Shirley) and Edward Gorski; one sister Jenny (Peter) Nowitzke; and two great grandchildren.
