(CNN) -- Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords took part in a candlelight vigil marking the one-year anniversary of the Tucson shooting spree.
Giffords is still recovering after getting shot in the head at a grocery store on January 8th, 2011.
The Arizona congresswoman opened the vigil by leading the crowd in the pledge of allegiance.
In addition to Giffords, 12 others were wounded and six were killed in last year's rampage.
A judge has ruled the accused shooter, Jared Loughner, is not competent to stand trial. He's being treated for mental illness at a medical center for federal prisoners in Missouri.
