Robert L. Kranig, 68, of Stevens Point passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at Ministry Saint Michael's Hospital.
Robert (Bob) was born Nov. 18, 1943 to Lawrence and Grace (Waldowski) Kranig. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Barbara Felder.
He graduated from Pacelli in 1961 and was united in marriage to Marilu Daniels in 1964, from whom he was later divorced in 1992. He was a talented baseball player during his school years and was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting. In early marriage and fatherhood he started his career at the Soo Line Railroad. Bob joined Prudential Insurance Company in 1972 where he completed a successful 28 years of service, during which he moved his business and family to LaCrosse in 1976. He returned to Stevens Point in 1992 and worked independently through Packerland Brokerage Services into his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Carrie (Travis) Baker of Arvada, Colorado, Rob (JoAnn) Kranig of Onalaska, Wisconsin and Brad (Becky) Kranig of Petoskey, Michigan; five grandchildren, Maslin & Taylor Baker (13), Mitchell Kranig (6) & Connor Kranig (3), Sydney Kranig (3). Along with his mother Grace, he is further survived by two sisters, Bonnie (Don) Pazynski of Marinette and Corrine of Plover; numerous nieces and nephews, including Ann & Peter Balisterri and Matthew Felder.
The family wishes to thank the many staff who offered tremendous on-going support at Ministry Saint Michael's Hospital, Ministry Behavioral Health Services, Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation Center of Wisconsin Rapids, and Portage County Health and Human Services.
Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 from 4-6pm, with a Rosary Service at 6pm, at Shuda Funeral Home in Stevens Point.
