Workers keep busy even without snow to plow

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -- Even though there hasn't been much snow lately, city workers are keeping busy with other projects.

In Stevens Point, the public works employees have been helping out with some of the other departments. Workers have been patching up roads and fixing equipment -- a few things that usually don't get taken care of when there's plowing to be done. Mayor Andrew Halverson said the lack of snow could help the city save money.

"Even if we experience now an above-average, highly intense snow season from this point through the end of March, we'll still be tremendously further ahead than we would have expected to be," said Halverson.

Another project city employees are working on -- a salt brine station -- which they hope to have up and running later this year.
