WAUSAU (WAOW) -
WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Wausau police have caught the man they said robbed the Tower Credit Union on Bridge Street around 1:40PM on Tuesday afternoon. Police said they were able to track him down after a 30 minute search. But authorities are still looking for others in connection with this case.
Police said a 52-year-old man came into the building with a scarf covering his face. They said he showed employees he had a handgun and then demanded money from a few different tellers. Officers said they were able to track the man down a couple blocks away from the building. Authorities aren't releasing his name right now, but said they have been questioning him at the police department.
"Time is crucial," said Wausau Police Lt. Bill Kolb. "The sooner the better that we can find things. Certainly the witness information and the quicker we get that information, the better job we can do."
Police said at least one customer was inside at the time but no one was hurt during the incident. By the time they tracked the man down, officers said he had a small amount of money but no weapon. Police said when the man left the credit union, he initially headed toward a smaller black car with at least one person inside. Officials said that car may be connected to this case.
