Marcella A. Bedwanic, 91, of Wausau, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at Stone Crest Residence, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born June 5, 1920 in Wausau to the late George and Helen (Glasel) Mathie. Marcella married Ben C. Bedwanic on Aug. 31, 1940 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her March 17, 2004. Marcella worked at the Wausau Daily Herald Circulation Dept. for many years.
Marcella enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, doing crafts of all kinds, traveling, cooking and baking where she was known for her Christmas cookies, candies and the best bread around. She loved to follow the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Steckling, Madison; three sons, Alan Bedwanic, Wausau, Thomas (Nancy) Bedwanic, Monee, Ill., and Peter Bedwanic, McFarland; four grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Steckling, Plattville, Mark Steckling, Madison, Tara (Steven) French, Crete, Ill., and Ashley Gregory, Crete, Ill.; and three great-grandchildren, Madisen, Miles and Meadow Steckling; brother, Donald Mathie, Wausau.
Besides her parents and husband, Ben, she is preceded in death by Three sisters, Joan, Joyce and Pat; three brothers, Jim, Joe, and Eugene
Funeral Mass will celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday Jan. 13, 2012 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, 621 2nd St., Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday Jan. 12, 2012 at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St. Wausau where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be on Friday from 10:00a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
