Trial delayed for Wis. woman accused in 1957 death
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- The trial for a 74-year-old woman accused in the 1957 death of her baby daughter has been postponed.
Ruby Klokow, of Sheboygan, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the death of her daughter Jeaneen, after her son went to police in 2008 with allegations of childhood abuse. She was charged last February.
The trial was set for this month, but was changed Thursday to start Sept. 10.
Her attorney Kirk Obear says they are dealing with witnesses who have died or can't remember events from more than 50 years ago.
He says he also needed time to prepare after the prosecution was allowed to try to show that Klokow had a propensity for violence, which they dispute. They also needed the trial to last a week longer.
