Jeanne Anne Ramsey, 64, of Wausau died peacefully Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with her loving daughters at her side. Jeanne was born on October 23, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to James and Marjorie (McLarty) Welch. She graduated from Edgewood High School in Maryland, and in 1972, she married Steve Ramsey. Over the next 20 years, Jeanne spent all of her time taking care of her four daughters and involving herself in their activities by volunteering, often acting as a seamstress and costume designer for the Wausau Children's Theatre.
At the age of 43, Jeanne struck out on her own and four years later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Communications. Disliking the cold Wisconsin winters, Jeanne moved to North Carolina to enjoy the warmer weather. However, in 2003 at the age of 56 Jeanne again shifted gears to follow her two true passions in life- grandchildren and scrapbooking. Jeanne returned to Wausau and opened up her own scrapbooking store, the Scrapbook Studio, which she operated with enthusiasm for seven years. Over that same time span she was blessed to welcome into the world, spend time with, and love her eight grandchildren, who will truly miss their Grammy.
Jeanne is survived by her four daughters (who Jeanne would have insisted be listed in here in order of age), Shannon (John) Wagman, Wausau, Shelley (Dave) DeJongh, Cornell, Stacy (Mike) Heise, Wausau, and Stephany (Eric) Tatro, Eland; Eight Grandchildren, Ella and Emmersyn Tatro, Maci and Marcus Heise, Addyson and Bryce DeJongh, and Sydney and Sophia Wagman; her sisters Jackie Mortman (Jean Pierre St. Louis), Joy (Doug) Paul, and Jill (Gary) Birch; and sister-in-law Jeanne (Jeff) Welch along with several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents James and Marjorie Welch and her brother Jeff Welch.
Memorial services will be at 1p.m. on Sunday January 15, 2012 at the Wausau Chapel Brainard Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Brainard Funeral Home Wausau is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Jeanne was passionate about the Hospice program; therefore in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice program in Wausau, WI. The family would like to thank Aspirus Hospitals' ICU department for their brief, yet amazing support.
Jeanne was a loving mother, caring sister, and fun-loving friend to all those who knew her. She relished her time with her grandchildren, and will be truly missed.
