Alvin Schoeman, 89 of Weston, died Friday, January 13, 2012 in Wausau.
Alvin was born April 18, 1922 in the town of Weston, and grew up in the Great Depression. He joined the Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged for medical reasons.
He was married to Gertrude Schmidt and had one child, Ronald J. Schoeman, both of whom preceded him in death. Alvin is survived by one brother, Kenneth Schoeman, from Lakewood, Colorado and by many nieces and nephews. He was last employed by Weyerhaeuser in Rothschild, and was a resident at Northern Reflection Care Center, where he died, surrounded by compassionate staff. Alvin was an avid fisherman and spent a lot of time at Lake Tomahawk.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston. Rev. Larry Treece of Peace United Church of Christ will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau.
