Arden "Bud" Koenig

Arden "Bud" Koenig, 74, Wausau, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital with his family by his side.

Bud was born July 25, 1937 in Wausau to the late Otto and Alma (Bielke) Koenig.  He married Ellen J. Tapper on Dec. 26, 1959 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Wausau.

Bud served four years in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1959.  He was employed for 12 years at Marathon Electric and 28 ½ years at Wausau Homes.

Bud enjoyed gardening and his time at his cottage in Lake Tomahawk fishing and hunting with his son and grandsons.  He also enjoyed going to the beach spending time with his family.

Bud is survived by his wife, Ellen; two daughters, Kay E. (Steve) Sitko and their daughters, Nicole and Clare of Wausau, Karin L. (Tim) Quillin and their children, Nicholas and McKenzie of Onalaska; one son, Kurt B. (Cindy) Koenig and children, Lucas, Lea, Matthew, Elizabeth and step-daughter Becky of Weston; one sister, Shirley (Daniel) Reichl; and one brother, Orian (Mildred) Koenig; special friend, Wayne "Chum" Knapp, who was like a brother to him, his deer, turkey hunting and fishing partner; friend, Roger Wolgram, his golfing partner.

Besides his parents, Bud was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Earl Buch; his brother and sister-in-law, Wilton and Betty Koenig; and infant brother, Norton.

Funeral service celebrating Bud's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at Rib Mountain Lutheran Church, 3010 Eagle Ave. Rib Mountain.  Rev. Thomas F. Hoelter will officiate.  Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday.

Brainard Funeral Home, Wausau, is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be given to a charity of your choice.
