Missouri man arrested in Wisconsin motel standoff

TOMAH, Wis. (AP) -- A 22-year-old Missouri man is in jail after a nearly seven-hour standoff with police in the western Wisconsin city of Tomah.

Tomah police responded to a complaint of an intoxicated man with a firearm at the Super 8 motel around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. They say they contacted him in a hallway and he retreated into his room.

The Tomah Police Department says officers set up a perimeter and tried to talk to the man before they eventually used chemical agents to flush him out.

The La Crosse Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/zEgLxS) he's being held in the Monroe County Jail on suspicion of endangering safety while intoxicated with a firearm, failure to comply with police, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon.

Sgt. Pete Huneck says no one was injured.
