Medical technology company passes over Stevens Point
STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -- SHINE Medical Technologies has decided to build a new manufacturing plant in Janesville.
The City of Stevens Point was also considered for the company's plant location. But SHINE picked Janesville over it.
Mayor Andrew Halverson says he's disappointed Stevens Point didn't get picked, but he says he's glad the company is staying in Wisconsin. According to Halverson, Stevens Point had geological issues that contributed to SHINE's decision.
"We never want these opportunities to go elsewhere, but we also have to look at these issues form a statewide perspective," said Halverson.
The new plant is expected to create more than 100 permanent jobs when it opens in 2015.
