EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- One of two alligators injured in a break-in at a northeastern Pennsylvania home last summer has died while recovering from its injuries.
Owner John Boyko says the alligator died Tuesday at a Wisconsin animal hospital while recovering from a surgery performed to remove rocks from its stomach.
That alligator and another were injured in June when children broke into a home and threw rocks at the animals. Five children ages 9 to 13 face juvenile charges in the case.
Boyko tells the Stroudsburg Pocono Record (http://bit.ly/wtY7Fg) the surviving alligator had surgery to repair a broken leg.
Eleven gators were in the Monroe County home at the time of the break-in.
Boyko moved his collection to Pennsylvania following a court battle with officials in Connecticut.
