EAU CLAIRE (WAOW) - At this point there is nothing that appears suspicious. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Eau Claire police have confirmed that the body of a middle aged man has been pulled from the Chippewa River.

The man has not been identified. Police say it's unclear how long the body was in the water and it is too early to tell whether foul play is involved. Police say no missing persons reports have been filed recently.

The body was spotted by a kayaker around 4 p.m. Sunday near the UW Eau Claire campus. Fire and rescue crews launched from a boat landing behind the Hobbs Ice Center in Eau Claire.
