Fred Kieliszewski age 66, of Stevens Point, passed away Sunday January 29, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield. Fred passed away from complications after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma cancer.
Funeral services for Fred will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday February 1, 2012 at Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point. Chaplain Dee Erlandson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services Wednesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in his name.
Fred was born July 29, 1945 in Stevens Point, the son of Roman and Leona (Smith) Kieliszewski. He graduated from Pacelli High School in 1963. He entered the United States Air Force on August 23, 1963 in Milwaukee. He served his country in Iceland, Omaha, NE, Oregon, and Texas. After his honorable discharge on August 22, 1967 in Denver, CO he returned to the area. Fred married Linda Rueckert on October 28, 1967 in Stevens Point. The couple settled in Stevens Point and he, Linda, and their two boys enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, biking, cross country skiing, and hunting. Fred worked as a linesman for WPSC for over 35 years until his retirement in 2005. He made certain his customers had the power they needed no matter the time of day or the temperature. Fred was an accomplished outdoorsman, hunter, and angler. He was an active member of Trout Unlimited and Aldo Leopold. He enjoyed fishing local streams, streams in the driftless region of WI, and with his sons in the Western States. Fred loved his home with Linda, and walking the woods on their property, feeding and watching the birds, and working his garden. Friends were treated to his raspberry and blackberry jams. He enjoyed visits from neighbors,who were like an extended family for Fred and Linda. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he loved their hugs. Fred and Linda enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Linda and their two boys: Pete Kieliszewski, Naples, FL and Mike (Stephanie) James and their children Lillie and Steffen, Daniels, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jerome "Sonny". Fred was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a man who had a calm presence, a generosity, and a quiet sense of humor, who loved nature.
