Hundreds of people are asking for restitution for alleged sexual abuse by clergy in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
The Archdiocese filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January of last year, saying sex-abuse lawsuits could leave it with debts it couldn't afford.
According to a bankruptcy lawyer, about 550 people filed sex abuse claims before Wednesday's deadline.
Church officials have said less than $4.6 million is available to pay claims.
A hearing is set for Feb. 9th.
At that time, a judge will consider the Archdiocese's request to throw out some of the claims.
