WAUSAU (WAOW)--The 6th annual Go Red For Women luncheon took place in Wausau. Newsline 9 partners with the American Heart Association for the event. This year it took place a the Jefferson Street Inn in downtown Wausau.
The event is a chance for women to hear about the risks of heart disease and what they can do to live longer, stronger and healthier lives.
The American Heart Association says heart disease is the number one killer of women. Dr. Heather Johnson, says "Heart disease kills one woman every minute."
Friday is National Go Read For Women day, supporters of programs to promote heart healthy lifestyles are asked to wear red.
