MINNETONKA, Minn. (AP) -- Wisconsin is being included in a widening recall of hard-cooked eggs from a Minnesota food company. The eggs are being recalled because of a potential listeria contamination.
Michael Foods, of Minnetonka, is recalling the eggs for institutional use in 34 states. The eggs in brine were sold in 10- and 25-pound pails.
Six brand names are included in the recall: Columbia Valley Farms, Wholesome Farms, GFS, Papetti's, Glenview Farms, and Silverbrook.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says the eggs were produced at Michael Foods' plant in Wakefield, Nebraska. They were bought by food distributors and manufacturers.
The company says the eggs have potential to be contaminated with a strain of listeria, but there have been no reports of illness connected to the eggs. A contamination can cause serious infections in those with weaker immune systems.
