UNITED NATIONS (AP) -- A Western diplomat says the Security Council will meet Saturday morning, when a much-negotiated resolution on Syria could reach a vote.
The diplomat spoke Friday on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to be quoted by the press.
His confirmation came after the U.N. announced the meeting to news correspondents, then sent out another email asking reporters to "please disregard until further notice" the earlier announcement.
Russia has threatened to veto earlier versions of the resolution and the Obama administration has been pressing it to back a softened version condemning the violence in that country.
