SANTA ANA, CA (AP) -- Charges have been dropped against the son of a murder victim after detectives linked the case to a suspected California serial killer.
An Orange County judge dismissed the charges against 24-year-old Eder Herrerra on Friday. Herrerra was arrested shortly after his mother and brother were found stabbed to death in October.
On Thursday, investigators said they linked Itzcoatl Ocampo to the fatal stabbings and that Ocampo was associated with Herrera.
Ocampo is charged with stabbing to death four homeless men in a killing spree that terrorized Orange County in December and January.
