Indiana man arrested in Wisconsin hotel standoff

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) -- Police arrested a 32-year-old Indiana man at the end of an armed standoff inside a Waukesha hotel.

Waukesha police say it happened around 9:45 p.m. Saturday at the Extended Stay hotel. A woman called police from outside the building, saying her husband had just gone back to their room to get a gun after they got into an argument at a McDonald's restaurant. She told police he intended to shoot her.

Officers escorted the woman and her children from their minivan to safety and evacuated nearby rooms. The suspect, who she described to police as a gang member, surrendered himself and his gun after about 30 minutes.

Police say they plan to recommend he be charged with recklessly endangering safety and domestic disorderly conduct.
