OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- An Ormo man has been sentenced to probation and conditional jail time for beating his puppy to death.
Nineteen-year-old James A. Albright III was placed on probation for three years Wednesday and ordered to serve six months of conditional jail time, with another six months stayed.
The Oshkosh Northwestern reports Albright also must perform 100 hours of community service. He may not own any animals for five years.
Albright was sentenced on convictions of mistreatment of animals causing death and felony bail jumping.
According to the complaint, Albright beat Harley, his Rottweiler-mix puppy, to death with a baseball bat in a field last September after police told him and his roommate to get rid of their two dogs because of poor living conditions.
