Milwaukee homicide victim linked to missing Wausau woman

WAUSAU (WAOW)-- A Milwaukee homicide has a connection to a missing Wausau woman.

Police confirm the man murdered Friday was connected to Stephanie Low, a missing woman from our area. 22-year-old Artaze Williams was shot and killed in Milwaukee.

Wausau police tell us at one point Williams had been questioned in connection with Low's disappearance.

Low went missing from her Wausau apartment in October of 2010. Police say Artaze Williams was the cousin of Low's boyfriend at the time, Eric Maholmes. Police say Williams made contact with Low around the time she disappeared. When investigators talked with Williams, police say he fully cooperated.

Police tell Newsline 9, at this time, they do not believe Williams' death is connected with the Stephanie Low case, but can not rule out any possibilities.

Authorities say Williams had been cooperative with their investigation and are not calling him a suspect. Police also do not believe Williams' death will interfere with the search for Low.

As for William's murder, Milwaukee police are still searching for suspects.

Police say investigators are still working on the Stephanie Low case, searching for any new leads. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
