WAUSAU (WAOW)---The State Bowling Championships in Wausau attracts fun-lovers from across the state, while bringing millions of dollars to the local economy. The State Bowling Championships, now in their 110th year, bring thousands of competitors to Central Wisconsin.Connie Nowicki has owned Mountain Lanes, one of the bowling alleys used in the tournament, for almost two decades. She says the recession hit her business hard."It's been tough," says Nowicki. "It's been like any other business. We were doing great up until then and we felt the pressure just like everyone else."Nowicki says this tournament comes at the perfect time.State bowling officials say the championships pump close to five million dollars into the local economy.The State Bowling Championships are also held at Dale's Weston Lanes.
The championships run through May 13th.
