Bon Iver wins two Grammys, gives shout out to Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW)-  Sunday proved to be a big night for a band with local ties. Bon Iver, lead by Eau Claire's Justin Vernon, took home two Grammy Awards.

The band walked away with the award in the Best New Artist category, beating out category favorite Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, the Band Perry and as well as electronic DJ Skrillex, who already won three Grammys Sunday.

Vernon thanked the bands he's toured with when accepting the award. Then he thanked the Grammy voters, saying to laughs from the crowd: "Sweet, sweet hook-up." Before leaving the stage he closed with a shout out to Eau Claire.

The group also captured the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album.

Bon Iver was nominated in four categories, including both song and record of the year.
