NEW YORK (AP) -- Mimi Alford is telling her own story about her affair with President John F. Kennedy when she was a 19-year-old White House intern.
Alford had been outed in a 2003 biography and a New York newspaper account. Now, she's written a book to tell it from her point of view. She writes that Kennedy seduced her on her fourth day at the White House, and the affair ended shortly before his death.
"Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy and its Aftermath," was published last week.
Alford says in an interview that keeping the secret for decades took an emotional toll, and she needed to revisit it to move on.
A lawyer for the Kennedy family did not respond to requests for comment.
