UPDATE: Dashcam video released in Wausau police chase

WAUSAU (WAOW)--We have new video to show you of a Wausua police chase.

25-year-old Patrick Keenan is charged with leading police on a chase around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The chase ended when Keenan's vehicle crashed into a squad car near Grant Elementary.

According to the police report, the officer says he was pulling his squard car up onto the sidewalk to stop the vehicle, that's when the crash happened.

After the crash, the suspect took off running. Police say they caught him a few minutes later.

Keenan appeared in Marathon County Court Wednesday afternoon. He is now facing three charges, two of them felonies.

We attempted to talk with Keenan's attorney, but he refused our interview offer.

Police tell me the officer involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital, he was released and cleared to continue with full duty.

One man is in custody after leading Wausau Police on a chase.

According to a Lieutenant with the Wausau Police Department, an officer was patrolling around 1:40 a.m. when he noticed a car that investigators had pulled drugs from about a week ago.

They hadn't been able to question the operator of that car yet, so the officer attempted to pull the man over.

Police say that's when the driver took off, and led them on a chase from Porter Street to the intersection of 5th and Oak.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, then crashed into another squad car near Grant Elementary School.

He fled on foot, but was caught a short time later.

No names have been released.
