UWSP staffer "no longer physically on campus" after being charged with battery

Posted:

PORTAGE COUNTY (WAOW) -- A UW-Stevens Point staffer is no longer on campus after being charged with battery and disorderly conduct.

The Portage County district attorney said Christopher Robinson posted a cash bond in November. Robinson has been working as a developmental specialist at UWSP -- working with fundraising efforts on campus. Campus officials said they're doing their own investigation -- but would not elaborate on his employment status. They said their main concern is the welfare of students, faculty and staff on campus.

We tried to get ahold of Robinson, but were not able to reach him. He does not have a lawyer at this time.

Statement from UWSP --

"The university is aware of the criminal complaint against C.J. Robinson, a development specialist. The university is investigating the circumstances surrounding the criminal complaint. Mr. Robinson is no longer physically present on campus.

"The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is always concerned about the safety and welfare of our students, faculty and staff. We swiftly respond to all concerns and complaints and follow proper procedures to ensure fair and appropriate responses. The welfare of the campus community is paramount."
