Shoppers head out for last minute Valentine's Day gifts
WAUSAU (WAOW)--With Valentine's Day finally here, it's too late to order that last minute gift online, so many shoppers are dashing to the stores.
People were piling into Evolutions in Design, a flower shop in Wausau, where they were picking up those last minute flowers. A lot of shoppers say they didn't have enough time to get out there earlier, but that they are getting their shopping in for those they love.
Chocolate, flowers, jewelry and more. People hit the ships for some last minute Valentine's Day shopping, picking up gifts for the eyes, nose and ears.
Students in the UW-Marathon County show choir drove around town, delivering singing telegrams.
"We love it because we get to see so many awesome reactions of people who are so excited to see us," said Jessica Hargrave, UWMC. "We just pop in somebody's door and they say, 'Oh for me? Are you sure it's for me?" she said.
Whether they sent them to people at work or at home, the choir students say it's all worth it.
"We have a lot of people cry because we know that it just touches them," Hargrave said.
Local jewelry stores had promotions as well, proving sometimes good things come to those who wait.
"I'm doing my Valentine's Day shopping at the last minute," said Kevin Gripentrog from Tigerton. "Not something I normally do at the last minute, but it seemed like the right time to do it," he said.
Others were out picking up chocolates and cards.
"Guess I've been kind of lazy and haven't gotten around to it. But she's important to me, so I have to find her something nice," Nick Marvin from Kronenwetter said.
