SOUTHFIELD, MI (AP) -- Southfield police say they have identified a 45-year-old ex-con as a suspect in the killing of an 81-year-old woman whose body was found in her burned-out car.
The Oakland Press of Pontiac says police arrested the man Jan. 16 and he was jailed in Wayne County on a probation violation warrant.
So far, the man hasn't been charged in the death of Helen Gale. Her body and car were discovered Nov. 26 in an alley in Highland Park, 10 miles away.
Police say Gale was killed at her home, where she lived alone. They say she and the suspect knew each other.
