TOMAH (WAOW) -- Tomah police are releasing new information about the man who was found dead in a motel, after being missing for nearly a year.
Officers say 51-year-old Kurt Lieburn was reported missing by his family last March.
Lieburn's daughter-in-law reported him missing on March 7, 2011, after trying to find him at the Park Motel, where he often stayed.
She told officers that the family hadn't spoken to Lieburn in several years.
Lieburn's family also told investigators that the man had inherited money that was never claimed.
On February 3rd, workers at the Park Motel found Lieburn's body.
Investigators say the body was badly decomposed, leading them to believed it had been there for a long period of time.
According to the motel, Lieburn had stayed there on numerous occasions, but workers did not know he was staying there.
Hotel management told police there shouldn't have been anyone staying in the room, and it hadn't been rented out in a long time due to maintenance issues.
Investigators believe Lieburn died of natural causes but are still waiting for toxicology results.
Cool and bright Wednesday. Light snow likely Thursday night. A storm may hit Saturday.
