STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Allie Tanzer (Chippewa Falls, WI/Chippewa Falls) and Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) each tallied goals on Friday evening as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team skated to a 2-1 victory over Concordia University at Ice Hawks Arena.
Tanzer got the scoring going just 1:20 into the contest to give the Pointers the 1-0 edge.
Concordia's Marie Melton knotted the score at 1-1 with just one second left in the opening period, sending the teams into the first intermission tied.
In the second, Marvin scored the eventual game-winner on the power play at the 11:31 mark off assists from Nicole Schaub (Vednais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) and Cassandra Salmen (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater), putting UWSP in front 2-1.
In the third, Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison WI/East) stopped all three CUW shots on net to seal the 2-1 victory for the Pointers.
UW-Stevens Point (11-11-2, 10-8-1 NCHA) and Concordia (7-14-3, 5-12-2 NCHA) take to the ice in the final contest of the regular season for both teams. UWSP will celebrate Senior Day with a 2:30 p.m. start.
