Superior police shoot, kill male who raised gun

SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) -- Superior police have shot and killed a male who they say raised his gun as officers tried to investigate him for an attempted car theft.

Names of the suspect and officers have not been released.

The police department responded to a call from a drugstore Friday afternoon. When they arrived they learned a male had pointed a gun at a woman in the parking lot and demanded her keys.

Police say he couldn't start her car so he fled in the vehicle in which he arrived.

Other officers spotted the vehicle, but when they tried to stop it the suspect sped away.

He abandoned the car and ran as police chased him. They say he turned toward them while raising a gun, and officers fired multiple shots until he fell.
