WAUSAU (WAOW) -- On President's Day, shoppers hit the stores for a big day of savings.
The general manager at Sears in Wausau Center said many people who filed their taxes early are getting their refunds now -- and some of them are cashing in. He said exercise equipment - for people still working at their New Year's resolutions - and appliances are the big-ticket sellers this year.
"This weekend was a pretty tremendous weekend, not only for the store but for the whole mall," said Sears store manager Dean Whipple. "The store was packed. Saturday was phenomenal and yesterday came back as another big day."
Other stores around the Wausau area offered deals too -- advertising on signs and in their windows to try to bring shoppers inside. Whipple said Easter is the next big shopping day on the calendar.
