(WAOW) - Emma Roenneburg of Adams-Friendship has burst onto the scene and helped the Green Devils to a 21-0 record and a No. 4 ranking in division three.
"It kind of surprises me a lot of people are excited, we're taking it game by game, and we're working hard," Roenneburg said.
"This is the most successful team I've ever been around. It's new territory for me. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd be undefeated with the teams that we've had to play," said Green Devils' head coach Loren Ebert.
Emma is leading the team in scoring with 15 points a game. She's doing it as a freshman and other teams have noticed.
"They double me a lot more, sag in the middle, knowing that I get double teamed, I pass."
"She's got point guard skills and likes to pass the ball... her play has kind of opened it up for the other girls too."
Emma may be one of the youngest on the team but she's also one of the tallest and most skilled.
"We create matchup problems now, where we were so little before," Ebert said. "Now we can get people to at least think about what they're going to do because of her height she can over the top of things."
In a community like Adams-Friendship, this kind of talent doesn't go unnoticed for very long.
"I was spending a lot of time with the youth kids," Ebert said. "I remember her when she was in third grade, then fourth grade, and about seventh grade, I wished she could've played for us. And she probably could've."
