(WAOW) - The regular season didn't exactly end the way the UW Stevens Point men's basketball team had thought it would. But, the good news, that the season as a whole is not over.
Monday, the Pointers earned an at-large bid to the NCAA division three tournament.
They'll face Illinois Wesleyan in the opening round Friday.
That game will be played at Hope College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Pointers aren't exactly charging into the tournament. They've lost three of their last four games, but say they're not worried about looking in the past.
The Pointer women had already guaranteed their spot in the tournament after winning the WIAC title on Saturday.
Monday, junior guard Sam Barber was named the conference player of the year after leading the pointers to their fifth straight conference title.
The only bad news Monday? The Pointers will be on the road for the first two rounds of the tournament. They'll open against Franklin on Friday and despite not being at home, they're ready for the challenge of winning on the road.
