Some trucks take extra pit stops during winter weather
MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) -
Some truck drivers needed to take an extra pit stop on Wednesday morning because of the winter weather.
Workers at a BP gas station in Rib Mountain said some truck drivers had to stop there because of all the snow. They said the slippery roads can cause problems for big rigs, even after they get off the highway.
"Some truckers, they got snowed in," said Austin Pozega, who worked at the gas station. "They couldn't fully get into the parking lot because they couldn't get enough traction. So they're right out up there."
The BP is open 24 hours a day and workers said they've seen people coming in through the night and into the morning hours. They said they've had to keep refilling the coffee machine -- a hot commodity for drivers on a chilly morning.
