(WAOW) - This season was the fifth straight time the central Wisconsin Storm had reached the girls' hockey state tournament. But, they hadn't won a state title since that first appearance in 2008.
For this year's seniors, three times they'd went to Madison and three times they came back without championship gold. But Saturday, they ended that drought with a 6-2 rout of Onalaska in the title game.
Of all the Storm teams in the last five years, this one wasn't expected to be a state champion after losing five key seniors from a year ago, but after a slow start to the season, the Storm put things together and these seniors finally got their state title.
