Death at UW-Milwaukee pool investigated

Officials say foul play is not suspected in the death of a student found unresponsive in a pool at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Lifeguards pulled the 19-year-old student from the deep end of the pool at the Klotsche Center Monday morning and attempted to revive him using CPR and a defibrillator. But he was pronounced dead.

The Milwaukee County medical examiner's office identifies the student as 19-year-old Connor Driscoll.

A UWM spokesman tells the Journal Sentinel Driscoll and his roommate were practicing swimming for a physical education class. The spokesman says Driscoll stayed under water, but his roommate thought he was practicing underwater breathing.

An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday. The UWM spokesman says authorities believe Driscoll's death is related to a health condition and is not suspicious.
