TOWN OF OSCEOLA, Wis. (AP) -- The Polk County sheriff says the two people who died in a fire were a mother and her 16-year-old daughter.
The medical examiner identifies the victims as 43-year-old Shelli Maier and her daughter, Makayla Corbin. Both lived at the house.
Officials responded to the farm house in the Town of Osceola about 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Sheriff Pete Johnson says the fire was in the walls and ceiling so they couldn't search for anyone until around 2 p.m. when they found the first person. The second person was originally upstairs but was found in the basement at about 5:30 p.m. because of the damage.
Johnson says a 68-year-old man who lived in the home was outside with the dog, but was taken to the hospital because of a prior medical issue.
