State Sen. Holperin refuses to sign Recall Walker petition
A Northwoods Democratic state senator did not sign a recall petition against Gov. Scott Walker.
Sen. Jim Holperin (D-Conover) refused to add his name to the petition.
Holperin participated last year in fleeing to Illinois to postpone a vote on the governor's collective bargaining bill. Holperin was later placed under recall, but he won.
"I know how it adds to divisiveness in a district or in a state, so I don't like them for that reason," said Holperin. "But again, I don't subtract one bit from people's urge and enthusiasm and right to do it."
Holperin's victory in last year's recall vote was the second time he has successfully beaten back a recall attempt.
