PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (AP) -- A 24-year-old man who was kayaking in choppy Lake Michigan waters near Milwaukee has died after his body was pulled from the lake.
Witnesses called emergency officials Saturday about 11:45 a.m. to report seeing the man in the water. Waves were as high as 5 feet.
The fire department's water-rescue team found the unconscious man, pulled him into a rescue craft and began performing CPR.
The Port Washington man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Port Washington police Capt. Michael Davel tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/wwjIOa ) the man was an experienced kayaker who goes out three or four times a week.
