Anglers complete for the ice fishing world championship at Big Eau Pleine

Although temperatures soared into the fifties, anglers still came out on the ice compete in the ice fishing world championship at Big Eau Pleine. 

Despite a mild winter the ice at the reservoir was nearly fifteen inches thick. The only thing fisherman were worried about was the slickness of the ice.

"Me and a couple of other guys we're pretty old,"says Mike Bodecker. "If we fall down we break stuff."

The competition also decides who will be part of team to represent the U.S. in the Olympics. Although the sport has not yet been approved by an Olympic committee, officials from The U.S. Freshwater Fishing Federation say that they are confident the sport will soon be part of the winter games.
