Saturday Sports Report - 03/10/12

(WAOW) – Four area boys' basketball teams entered Saturday looking to punch their tickets to the state tournament in Madison.

In division one, DC Everest was looking for its first trip to state since 1968, but the Evergreens couldn't control their turnovers and fell to Oshkosh North 53-44.

In division two, Antigo couldn't keep up with the pace of Onalaska, falling 62-38.

Division four saw Amherst take on Oshkosh Lourdes in a rematch of a regular season meeting the Falcons lost by 12. Saturday's game was much closer, but the Knights hung on for a 45-42 win.

The girls' basketball regional finals hit the hardwood Saturday as well.

Newman Catholic advanced with a win over Marion. The Cardinals will meet Assumption for a third time this season after the Royals beat Tigerton 77-22. Neillsville stayed unbeaten with a win over Blair-Taylor.
