Donald H. Plautz, 90, Weston, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 at his home.
Donald was born March 4, 1922, in the Town of Berlin, WI, son of the late August and Lydia (Olhoff) Plautz. After serving in WWII in Europe, Donald returned to the states, driving truck around the country. He worked for American Motors until the mid 60's, and settled in Stratford after buying a cattle farm. Eventually moving back to Wausau, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching the Packers and Brewer games and was voted Polka Prince of the Red & White Polka Club. Donald enjoyed many summers at Camp American Legion and was grateful to have been able to participate in the WWII Honor Flight Program.
Donald is survived by a son, Michael (Sue) Plautz of Palm Bay, Fl; three, daughters Patte (Jerry) Lorton, Melbourne, Fl., Sherry (Jim) Viegut, Abbotsford and Cindy Babcock, Rothschild; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one sister Lorraine Gruenenwald, Merrill; a special nephew, Ken Roesler, Wausau, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sandra; an infant grandchild; a brother, Ervin; and three sisters, Hilma Sawyer, Clara Roesler and Mary Jane Smith.
Brainard Funeral Home-Everest Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Private family services will be held at a later date.
