Robot-like equipment to aid search for ship bodies
ROME (AP) -- Italian authorities say they are planning to use "sophisticated robot-like equipment" to help rescuers find the bodies of seven people still missing in the wreckage of the Costa Concordia cruise liner.
The Italian Civil Protection agency says the goal is to use the machines to search areas that divers have difficulty accessing.
The Concordia ran into a reef near the Tuscan island of Giglio, took on water and capsized on Jan. 13. Navy and fire department divers searched the submerged half of the boat for weeks, dodging floating furniture and rotting debris.
Twenty-five bodies have been found so far.
