Homeless community resources

WAUSAU (WAOW)--Wisconsin North Central Community Action hopes to bring together a number of community individuals and agencies to address the homeless issue. Through collaboration, it's hoped that the agencies that work with the homeless like the United Way of Marathon County, Women's Community, Randlin Homes and Salvation Army, will be able to better serve the homeless community.

WISCAP Director, Jeff Sargent said," 90% of the people in Wisconsin who are homeless live at 30% below the median income for their county." In Wisconsin, the median income for a family of four stood at about $49,000 in 2010.

Couple that with job losses due to the recession along with  rising prices and the homeless picture becomes much clearer. Sargent said, "We have people in tough shape and we need to come together to try to help them."
