A Tomahawk man has announced his candidacy for Wisconsin's 35th Assembly District.

Patrick Tjugum plans to enter the race as an independent, his campaign said in a news release Wednesday.

According to the release, Tjugum is an employee of Louisiana Pacific Corporation in Tomahawk and a volunteer firefighter for the town of Nokomis. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from UW-Stevens Point.

Tjugum says he plans to focus on listening to voters and pushing for open and transparent government.
